A rare silver cognac set produced by the renowned Moscow factory of Ivan Khlebnikov between 1908 and 1917, representing an outstanding example of Russian decorative silver from the Late Neoclassical period enriched with early Art Nouveau influences. The ensemble comprises a rectangular tray with diamond-shaped handles and four elegant gilt shot cups, all executed in a unified decorative design.

The tray is distinguished by its elongated proportions and restrained architectural composition, characteristic of Russian decorative arts at the beginning of the twentieth century. Its refined geometry emphasizes the vertical rhythm of the ensemble while providing a harmonious setting for the four tall cups.

Each cup is fashioned as an inverted cone raised on a slender high stem. The exterior is decorated with a finely executed symmetrical ornament combining a stylized foliate branch with vertical decorative bands reminiscent of theatrical drapery. The upper and lower sections are framed by a Greek key (meander) frieze, lending the design architectural balance and compositional clarity. The contrast between polished silver and richly gilt interiors enhances the ornamental decoration and accentuates the sculptural quality of the entire composition.

The ensemble exemplifies the exceptional craftsmanship, refined modelling and artistic sophistication for which the House of Ivan Khlebnikov is celebrated. Sets of this type were intended for serving cognac, liqueurs and other fine spirits during formal dinners and ceremonial receptions, forming an integral part of the refined dining culture of late Imperial Russia while reflecting the distinguished status of their owner.

Hallmarks: Each piece bears the maker`s mark «Хлебниковъ» (Khlebnikov), the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle warrant, and the Moscow 84 zolotnik silver assay mark dating to the period 1908–1917.
