An elegant Russian gold bracelet of the nineteenth century, embellished with turquoise enamel and natural pearls, represents a superb example of Russian jewellery from the Historicist period. Distinguished by its harmonious colour palette, refined craftsmanship and exceptional artistic quality, the bracelet reflects the finest traditions of the leading Russian jewellery workshops of the second half of the nineteenth century.
The oval hinged body is covered with rich turquoise enamel, providing a vibrant ground for the delicately engraved and chased gold ornament. Gracefully flowing vegetal scrollwork unfolds across the surface, displaying the refined decorative vocabulary characteristic of Historicism. At the centre of the composition is a finely executed multi-rayed gold star, set with a natural pearl and encircled by a halo of smaller seed pearls, lending the jewel remarkable depth and noble elegance. The interplay of warm gold, luminous turquoise enamel and the soft lustre of natural pearls creates a composition of exceptional refinement and artistic balance.
Bracelets of this quality were intended for ladies of the highest circles of Imperial Russian society, serving not only as luxurious ornaments but also as symbols of social prestige and cultivated taste. Preserved with authentic Russian hallmarks and executed to an outstanding standard, this bracelet is of considerable importance to collectors of Russian antique jewellery.
