A ceremonial Swedish Naval Officer`s sabre, manufactured during the second half of the 19th century by the renowned edged-weapons maker Jon. Svengren of Eskilstuna. This sword is a characteristic example of Royal Swedish Navy officer`s sidearms from the Historicist period, distinguished by its refined craftsmanship, elegant proportions, and rich decorative detailing.

The sabre features a slightly curved, single-edged blade of classic form, designed for both cutting and thrusting. The brass hilt incorporates a protective knuckle guard embellished with finely cast foliate ornament. The grip is covered in black leather and wrapped with twisted brass wire, providing both secure handling and refined appearance. The sabre retains its original leather scabbard fitted with brass mounts comprising the throat, suspension mount with carrying ring, and chape.

The blade is engraved with an anchor and the Royal Coat of Arms of Sweden, motifs traditionally reserved for officers of the Royal Swedish Navy. This decorative programme reflects the elevated rank of its original owner while emphasizing the weapon`s naval affiliation. Arms produced by Jon. Svengren of Eskilstuna enjoyed an outstanding reputation for the quality of their forged blades, precision finishing, and superior decorative work, making surviving examples highly desirable among collectors of European military antiques.
