A monumental and substantial cut crystal vase dating from the Late Art Nouveau period, executed in high-quality colourless crystal with deeply acid-etched and finely engraved decoration. Its imposing hexagonal form reflects the refined geometry characteristic of the transitional years between the flowing aesthetics of Art Nouveau and the emerging architectural language of early Art Deco. Each facet is richly ornamented with an elegant composition of blooming irises, their elongated leaves and graceful blossoms rendered through deep acid etching and meticulously refined by hand engraving.
The striking contrast between the polished transparency of the crystal and the velvety frosted surface of the floral decoration creates a remarkable visual depth, allowing the composition to appear almost suspended within the body of the crystal. The disciplined architectural silhouette is beautifully balanced by the fluid naturalism of the iris motif, one of the defining decorative emblems of European Art Nouveau. The exceptional quality of the crystal, its considerable weight and the sophistication of its execution suggest production by one of the leading European artistic glass manufactories of the early twentieth century.
