A decorative katana-kake stand for three Japanese swords, crafted in Japan during the 20th century from black lacquered wood. Designed to display traditional samurai swords—including a katana, wakizashi and tantō—the stand combines practical function with refined decorative craftsmanship.

The construction features two elegantly shaped side supports with three pairs of sword rests connected by a gently arched crossbar. Its surface is finished in deep black lacquer and richly embellished with shimmering mother-of-pearl inlay forming ornamental borders along the sides, base and upper edges. The central panel is decorated in gold lacquer with a Japanese family crest (mon) enclosed within a circular medallion. The emblem depicts a stylised tachibana (mandarin orange blossom), one of the traditional motifs of Japanese heraldry symbolising noble lineage, longevity and family continuity.

This stand represents a characteristic example of 20th-century Japanese decorative arts, executed in the traditions of Japanese lacquer craftsmanship. Comparable katana-kake were used both in samurai residences and later in refined interiors as elegant displays for collections of Japanese swords.
