A rare silver rouble of Catherine II, struck in 1770 during the flourishing years of the Russian Empire. This issue belongs to the classic silver coinage of Catherine the Great`s reign and represents one of the most iconic denominations of eighteenth-century Imperial Russian numismatics.

The obverse features the right-facing portrait of Empress Catherine II wearing a laurel wreath and ceremonial robes. The portrait displays refined modelling and the distinguished artistic quality characteristic of the medallic art of the Catherine era. The surrounding legend bears the full imperial title of the Empress.

The reverse depicts the Imperial double-headed eagle crowned with three Imperial crowns and holding the sceptre and orb. Upon the eagle`s breast appears the shield of Moscow with Saint George slaying the dragon. The date 1770 is divided on either side of the composition. This reverse design became one of the defining symbols of Russian coinage during the second half of the eighteenth century, reflecting the consolidation of Imperial authority under Catherine the Great.

The coin retains an attractive historical relief with original natural silver toning, enhancing both its authenticity and its numismatic appeal.
