A wooden octagonal box mounted on 4 legs with a spectacular contrast of black and gold lacquer in the decor is designed for board games. The body of the box is decorated with exquisite palace scenes that reflect the wealth and sophistication of Chinese culture of that time. The interior of the box is divided into three compartments, each of which contains eight small mother-of-pearl cups and tokens. China. 19th century. Canton. Dimensions: 11.5 x 33 x 17.5 cm.
