The end-to-end existence of the firm begins in 1880, when William Gibson and John Lawrence Langman opened their own business.It was located in London at 112 Regent Street, in the premises of the former workshop of John Joseph Swords. In 1893 the firm took over The Goldsmiths Alliance Ltd (at one time A.B. Savory & Sons), and in 1898 became Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd, Traded in diamonds and precious stones. They produced jewelry, watches, silver works, and worked with electroplating. In 1952, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd was merged with Garrard & Co Ltd.The firm has participated in a number of national and international exhibitions, such as: exhibitions (London, 1886), Paris (1889), Chicago (1893), California (1894), Paris (1900) and Franco -British Exhibition (London). 1908.Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co was active with manufactures in Newcastle Place, Clerkenwell; Regent Works, Sheffield and Rue Saint George in Paris, and has also supplied items to various UK gold and silver producers (Martin Hall & Co Ltd, W&G Sissons, Wakely & Wheeler, William Comyns, Harrison Brothers & Howson, etc.)
