SET OF SIX SILVER SALT CELLARS IN THE FORM OF KOVSHES. FEODOR RUCKERT. FABERGÉ RUSSIA, MOSCOW, 1908-1917

This set of six miniature silver salt cellars, executed in the form of ancient Russian kovshes, represents an expressive and highly artistic example of the Moscow production of the Fabergé firm in the early 20th century. The plasticity of the body derives from the boat-shaped forms of traditional Russian vessels, reinterpreted in the spirit of the Neo-Russian Style. The handles are designed as stylised bird heads with a distinctive graphic silhouette, emphasizing the national-romantic character of the composition.

The body is decorated with ornament executed in the cloisonné enamel technique, combining both transparent and opaque enamels in rich cobalt, green, red and white tones. The cloisons create a complex rhythmic pattern with a granulated background texture characteristic of Feodor Ruckert’s Moscow workshop. The interior of the bowls is gilded.

The set is preserved in its original wooden case with silk lining and the company inscription “K. Fabergé” indicating the cities Moscow, St. Petersburg and Odessa in Cyrillic, which significantly enhances the historical and collectible value of the ensemble.
