Pair Of Blue-glazed earthenware lamps in the Théodore Deck style, 19th century

A very beautiful pair of Louis XVI-style baluster-shaped lamps in “Deck” blue glazed ceramic. Each lamp is adorned with large openwork gilded bronze mounts. On either side of each vase is a large diamond-shaped escutcheon framed with palmettes, curls and vegetal ornamentation, which stretches into a rising filante grip and ends in an interlacing frieze. The gilded bronze base is also beautifully crafted with four feet: two sphinxes resting on claw feet and two stylized palmettes. These old oil lamps have been re-electrified, but the chased bronze spout and key have been retained. The globes are decorated with arabesques engraved on satin-finish glass. This pair of lamps is reminiscent of Théodore Decks work, with its characteristic intense turquoise blue. A beautiful, lively ensemble that will add a colorful yet classic touch to your interior.
