A ce jour, nous ne connaissons que très peu de chose de la vie de ce peintre sauf qu’il est actif à Haarlem de 1630 à 1653. Aucune inscription à une Guilde ce qui pourrait laisser à penser que son activité de peintre n’était pas son activité principale. Dans tous les cas nous le découvrons peu à peu avec des œuvres qui apparaissent sur le marché de l’Art.
Notre tableau, probablement peint vers 1640 est une nature morte. Sur un entablement, sont déposés : un Romer, une cruche en étain, une cuillère et un gâteau dans une assiette.
A noter une trace de monogramme sur l’entablement et un cachet de cire sur le dos du panneau.
