Verlys Glass 1925-1952.

Verlys Glass. 1925-1952. Founded in 1920 as a subsidiary of the American Holophane Company in a glass factory near Rouen for the production of car headlights, in 1925 began making art glass - vases and tableware. The art department was named "Verlys". Initially, the products were made of several layers of glass, smooth on the outside with an interior finish. Since 1933, Verlys has specialized in high quality press glass. They produced transparent, opaque, opalescent and colored pieces with a pattern typical of 1930s Lalique style glass. In 1935, the American branch of "Verlys of America" was founded in Newark, Ohio. The molds were supplied from France for Ohio works. Many of the same subjects were performed at the same time at both branches. Production in France and the United States declined during World War II as the company focused more and more on industrial products. Verlys art glass was gradually abandoned in both countries from 1940 until its complete discontinuation around 1951-52.
