Marquetry (French - marqueterie)

Marquetry (French - marqueterie) is a special technique for the manufacture of wooden mosaic surfaces. Mosaics are made on the basis of natural veneer of valuable species of wood, metals, bone or mother-of-pearl, which are laid out in accordance with the pattern set by the master to achieve an artistic effect.

Marquetry includes several techniques:

Intarsia. This technique uses a wooden panel in which grooves are cut for the subsequent gluing of different pieces of wood. Fragments can be of different thickness.

Lining. A method that involves gluing wood to the surface of various products as a decoration.
