Jan Fyt (1611-1661) - Flemish painter and printmaker.

Jan Fyt studied under the direction of Jan van den Berch and Frans Snyders and worked in his workshop until 1631. In 1629-1630 he joined the guild of artists. In 1633-1640, Fyt visited Paris and traveled to Italy. Contemporaries appreciated the artist for his hunting still lifes. In addition, Fyt painted animals, as well as still lifes with fruits and flowers. Jan Fyts works are kept in galleries in Munich, Berlin, Vienna and Paris. The artists engravings are dedicated to dogs and other animals. From 1641 he worked in Antwerp. The paintings of Jan Fyt, a wonderful master of still life and animalistic genre of the 17th century, are distinguished by the decorative effect of compositions, the sophistication of silvery, rich in tonal transitions and shades of color, the virtuoso transfer of the silky plumage of birds, the texture of animal hair, fruits, flowers.
