Ikov Pavel Petrovich (1828-1875) Russian painter, painter, portraitist, teacher, pensioner of the IAH.Ikov received his first art education at the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture in 1844-1846.In 1847 the young artist entered the Academy of Arts as a student of Professor Bruni.In 1852, the artist receives his first award, a small silver medal.In 1853 the artist received a second silver medal for a pictorial sketch from a sitter.In 1858 Ikov received the first gold medal and the title of 14th grade artist for the painting "Christ washes the feet of his disciples."In 1860 the artist was sent abroad as a pensioner. The first three years he spent in Paris, where he painted portraits and made a copy of part of the Louvre painting by Rubens "The Happy Times of the Regency of Marie de Medici".In 1863, he went to Italy and only in 1867 returned to Russia where in 1868 he presented his works abroad at the Academy of Arts: the painting "Susanna", sketches of an old man and Italian women, views of Postumus, Amalfi, chapels in Subiaco, Villa de Este in Tivoli.Pavel Petrovich Ikov died on March 18 (30), 1875Some of his canvases are exhibited at the Kiev Museum of Russian Art, the museums of Alma-Ata and Perm.
