The style of Gustav III of Sweden, is a Scandinavian variety of classicism, practicing a rural idyll against a light background of classic furniture. Having become a popular method of sentimental simplification of classicism, it had a massive impact on the aesthetics of Scandinavia in the second half of the 18th - early 19th centuries. Periodically emerges as a fashion northern analogue of the southern Italian pastoral.
