The porcelain manufactory Ernst Bohne Söhne was founded in Rudolstadt, Thuringia, in 1848 by the porcelain painter Ernst Bohne. The first ovens were built in 1850. When Ernst Bohne died in 1856, his sons Gustav, Karl, and David took over the management of the plant, after which the plant became known as "Ernst Bohne Söhne". Some time later, the plant was taken over by the children of David, Bernhard and Martha. And in 1919 the plant was sold to the Heubach brothers from Lichte.
