Dubey & Schaldenbrand

The Dubey & Schaldenbrand watch house was founded in 1946. Then the watchmaker Rene Schaldenbrand and the teacher of the school of watchmakers in La Chaux-de-Fonds Georges Dubet created a watch company under their own names. Georges Dubet was busy developing a reliable and inexpensive chronograph. Patented in Switzerland, France and the USA under the name Index Mobile, it became the marker and engine of the new brand. Thanks to its implementation, Dubey & Schaldenbrand immediately became known and recognized. The new chronograph, due to its size and lower price, favorably distinguished from competitors, quickly found application in sports, the military and in industry. After Antoine LeCoultre′s granddaughter, Sinette Robert, joined the company, the brand gained worldwide fame. Under her leadership, the Dubey & Schaldenbrand collections quickly sold out thanks to rare movements from the unique Sinette collection. The original case design and the highest quality hand engraving also contributed to the success. Later, the brand began to use other mechanisms, but this did not affect the design of new models. Dubey & Schaldenbrand watches are piece goods. He does not seek to capture world markets. Each of the company′s watches remains a rarity, thanks to the painstaking work on each piece. Now the company produces no more than 4000 hours per year. Until now, a tenth of these watches have special, historical, movements that are produced only by Dubey & Schaldenbrand.
