Charles-Nicolas Odiot

Charles-Nicolas Odiot (1827-1869) was an outstanding French silversmith of his generation; the son of Napoleon′s silversmith, Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot, he inherited the direction of the extensive family workshops in 1827, as factory production methods became widespread in commerce. He excelled in the revived Rococo style and became the purveyor of Louis Philippe and other members of the Orleans family.

He was replaced by his son Gustav, who received the most ambitious team ever accepted by the House of Odiots: 3,000 pieces of pure gold dishes for Said Pasha, Viceroy of Egypt. He later became an appointed supplier to the king′s court. Gustav was also the last member of the Odiot family to run a company that continues to operate today.
