Baumgartner-Stoilov Konstantin (1850 - 1924)

Bulgarian painter. In the 1880s he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. He became famous as the author of works depicting horses, scenes of hunting and racing. He also wrote genre paintings, developing the theme of the military life of the Cossacks. The artist′s paintings and drawings were reproduced in magazines from the 1890s - 1900s. Works are in European museums and private collections. His compositions with horses are in great demand in the antique market. A large number of works are kept in the South African collection of Georgy Bibikov, a representative of an old noble family and heir to Russian emigrants.
