Johann Loetz Witwe glass Copper Overlay Vase, Early 20th Century, Austria.

An extremely rare and collectible vase from Johann Loetz Witwe, produced around 1905. The style of these vases, with copper overlays, bridges the European Art Nouveau movement with Vienna Secessionist design and the emerging Arts and Crafts Movement style. A notable figure in Secession glass art, Johann Loetz Witwe, also made a striking series of iridescent vases, which won a gold medal at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair. Height: 15.5 cm. Diameter at the top: 6.5 cm. Diameter in the middle: 15.5 cm. Diameter at the bottom: 8.5 cm. Period: Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Secessionist. Exactly the same model is present at the Iowa State University, Farm House Museum. In good condition with signs of use, without any visible chips or cracks. Only the vase bottom has scratches due to use.
